Job Description and Duties

This position is for Coalinga State Hospital.

Incumbents work under direct supervision to assist licensed staff in providing basic behavioral and psychiatric nursing care and custody services to clients/patients.

Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and repeat health reviews whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job duties.

• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Certified Nursing Assistant License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 20, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is NAME UNION, subject to PERCENTAGE in salary reduction, accruing approximately 3-5 hours of PLP each month.
