Under the supervision of the Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Laboratory Assistant, CF performs standardized non-technical laboratory procedures in collecting and processing laboratory specimens, materials, and supplies. Assists in operating specialized laboratory equipment; complies with all the applicable State and federal laws and regulations and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to the laboratory. Maintains order, supervises the conduct of the incarcerated, and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.


Minimum Qualifications
Either I;
Six months of experience in laboratory work similar to that described in Definition of Levels above.

Or II;
E ducation: Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.

Or III;
Satisfactory completion of a formalized laboratory work experience and training program of at least three months' duration, such as those conducted under Job Training Partnership Act, or similar work experience programs conducted by State agencies.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications (MQ) will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the MQ’s, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency. Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
