Senior Product Designer

Creativefuego
San Francisco, CA

At Cambly, we're on a mission to bring high-quality English education to people around the world. English is a critical tool that unlocks new opportunities at home and abroad. Research by the World Economic Forum shows that job seekers with exceptional English compared to their country's average earn 30-50% higher salaries.

Role Overview

We're seeking a senior-level digital product designer to help evolve the Cambly experience across all platforms. You'll work directly with product managers and engineers to develop world-class user experiences. As part of a cross-functional team, you'll collaborate frequently with engineers, researchers, analysts, and other stakeholders throughout all phases of the product development cycle.

As a product designer at Cambly, you'll help shape experiences that literally change lives—enabling students to pursue international education, advance their careers, and connect with people across cultures. You'll work on challenges that combine educational pedagogy with consumer technology in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your designs will reach users worldwide.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products (UI/UX)
  • A portfolio showcasing strong visual design skills—typography, color theory, layout, information hierarchy, and high-quality UI/UX execution
  • Proven ability to build effective cross-functional relationships, especially with engineering and product teams
  • Excellent project management skills with experience handling multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Experience contributing to and working within design systems
  • Strong user-centered design practices and methodologies
  • Clear communication skills to articulate design decisions and rationale to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in environments using A/B or multivariate experimentation
  • A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for continuous learning

What You'll Do

  • Design intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing user experiences for our global audience
  • Partner with product and engineering managers to define roadmaps, set metric goals, design experiments, and synthesize learnings
  • Advocate for users throughout the product development process
  • Lead the design process from concept through implementation, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI
  • Iterate based on user feedback, research insights, and performance data
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation that matches design intent
  • Provide clear documentation that effectively communicates user flows to partners and stakeholders
  • Contribute to our design system while ensuring consistency across products
  • Maintain proactive communication with team members and cross-functional partners
  • Educate non-designers on design processes, practices, and principles

Work on projects like…

  • Building a tutor discovery experience that is engaging and effective at connecting students with the perfect tutor
  • Expanding our marketplace offerings to capture new learner and tutor segments
  • Creating a classroom experience where lesson content is generated by AI to be tailored to the learner's needs
  • Building post-lesson activities that are curated to fit each learner's areas for improvement
  • Optimizing learner flows to drive increased bookings

Tools & Technologies

  • Strong proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we use Figma, Adobe CS, and Google Workspace)
  • Coding knowledge is a plus but not required

Why Cambly?

  • Impact: Your work will directly influence the way millions of people learn English worldwide.
  • Growth: Join a fast-paced company where your contributions will shape the future of language learning.
  • Mission-Driven Culture: Be part of a company that values education, innovation, and making a difference.
