Senior/Principal Machine Learning Engineer, Voice Safety

WHY Voice Safety?

Safety and Civility is Roblox's #1 priority and our mission is to protect our community. As a Senior/Principal Machine Learning Engineer on the Voice Safety team, you’ll build systems that monitor real-time user interactions — including voice chat, in-experience communications, developer APIs, video, and more. We build world-class speech recognition and NLP models to keep conversations safe. Roblox’s voice safety systems currently process hundreds of thousands of hours of active voice data each day, flagging users for profanity, hate speech, personal information (PII), and other abuses within seconds to help ensure the platform remains safe and civil at all times.

You will:

• Build end-to-end ML systems to detect and address problematic voice communication and content on Roblox.


• Drive the evolution of our speech moderation into a scalable, adaptable system that supports dozens of customer teams with unique needs


• Develop innovative detection approaches in a rapidly evolving landscape. Use a data-driven lens to think creatively, strategically, and adversarially to identify opportunities.


• Shape the team's roadmap and technical direction. Drive execution, establish strong technical foundations, and mentor junior engineers.


• Partner with Moderation Operations, PM, Data, and stakeholders across Roblox.

You have:

• Over 7 years of experience in designing and building deep learning solutions for speech and language modeling. Capable of breaking down product requirements into iterative deliverable stages. Experience in launching computer vision models into production.


• MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Speech and Language Modeling, Deep Learning, or a related field.
