About the Position: We are seeking a veteran Site Safety and Health Supervisor to oversee a major water tower upgrade for the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) in Lafayette, CA. This high-visibility role requires a professional capable of managing the unique safety challenges associated with elevated storage tanks, including fall protection, high-angle work, and heavy lifting operations. You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of project-specific safety plans to ensure zero incidents on-site. Key Responsibilities Project Safety Oversight: Lead all health and safety initiatives for the EBMUD water tower upgrade, ensuring 100% compliance with EBMUD-specific safety protocols and OSHA standards. Risk Assessment: Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards related to high-elevation work, scaffolding, and crane operations. Incident Prevention: Develop and enforce Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) for high-risk tasks. Safety Training: Conduct on-site safety orientations, "Tailgate" safety meetings, and specialized training for fall arrest systems and confined space entry. Compliance Reporting: Maintain meticulous safety logs, incident reports, and inspection documentation required for Public Works and EBMUD auditing. Liaison Duties: Act as the primary point of contact for EBMUD safety inspectors and regulatory agencies, ensuring all field activities align with contract safety requirements. Required Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of experience as a Safety Manager specifically on major Heavy Civil or Public Works projects. Project Background: Proven track record managing safety for high-infrastructure projects (e.g., water towers, bridges, or treatment plants). Certification: Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification is strictly required. Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in fall protection systems, rigging safety, and Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations. Logistics: Ability to manage the project site in Lafayette while maintaining reporting duties at the San Jose headquarters. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Certification: CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) is highly preferred. Agency Knowledge: Prior experience working on EBMUD (East Bay Municipal Utility District) projects and familiarity with their specific safety reporting structures.
