Travel Relief Manager

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the FOD Region VI Office in Bellflower.

This Limited Term position may be extended to 24 months and may become Permanent.

Under the general direction of the Region VI Administrator, the Manager IV-Travel Relief Manager is responsible for providing high-level managerial relief and operational support to DMV field offices throughout Region VI. This position ensures continuity of leadership during vacancies or extended absences and supports the implementation of departmental initiatives, policy consistency, and operational excellence. When not assigned to a relief role, the incumbent will work from the Region Office.

The Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full-time appointment. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Working Conditions

Works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.

Experience managing field office operations and supervising diverse staff; demonstrated ability to provide leadership during management vacancies or extended absences; knowledge of driver licensing, vehicle registration, cashiering, customer service, and departmental policies and procedures; experience overseeing outreach or community-based service programs; ability to analyze performance data, identify service gaps, and implement operational improvements; experience coaching and mentoring managers and staff; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work independently; willingness to travel throughout Region VI and work varied hours based on operational needs.
