Municipal Planner
Municipal Planner Position Overview
The Municipal Planner will be responsible for developing and implementing land use policies and planning strategies that promote sustainable development within the community. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community members, and developers, to ensure adherence to zoning regulations and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on land use trends and zoning regulations
- Prepare and present planning reports and recommendations to municipal boards and committees
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data for planning projects
- Review and evaluate development proposals for compliance with CEQA/NEPA guidelines
- Engage with community members to gather input and promote transparent planning processes
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies on transportation and infrastructure planning
- Assist in the development of long-range plans and policies for sustainable growth
- Conduct site analysis for potential development projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience with zoning regulations and land use planning
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Knowledge of CEQA/NEPA processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and public engagement skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders
