Maintenance Mechanic – 3rd Shift (Temp-to-Hire)
Location:Oxnard
Shift: 3rd Shift (Sunday–Thursday)
- Sunday: 4:00 AM – 1:40 PM
- Monday–Thursday: 5:45 PM – 4:00 AM
Pay: $32/hour
Employment Type: Temporary-to-Hire Opportunity
Overtime: Frequent overtime available
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic supports production by maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing machinery and equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and food quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
- Perform repairs, equipment tuning, and assigned project work
- Execute preventive maintenance programs (priority focus for 3rd shift)
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V, 3-phase, including DC controls
- Interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Inspect equipment to detect defects and prevent failures
Installation & Fabrication
- Assemble, fabricate, and install equipment per engineering specifications
- Fabricate parts as needed within scope of experience
- Recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance
Production Support
- Assist line leads with equipment adjustments and repairs
- Provide parts and technical support as needed
- Coordinate with departments to meet production goals
Technical Expertise
- Work with PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs (preferred)
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters and amp meters
- Maintain knowledge of motors, drives, and control systems
- Apply National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Follow and enforce OSHA, GMP, and company safety policies
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Report unsafe conditions and take corrective action
- Follow all food safety and quality procedures
- Account for all tools and parts after completing work
Team Collaboration
- Work with maintenance team and outside vendors on projects
- Train and assist team members as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Additional Duties
- Work in tight or confined spaces when required
- Report temporary fixes and ensure permanent resolutions
- Support other maintenance personnel as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
- 3–5 years of maintenance experience (Electrician or Mechanic)
- Manufacturing experience required; food processing preferred
Technical Skills:
- Strong electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Experience with PLCs, motors, drives, and controls
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code
Preferred:
- 2–5 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience
