Job Overview

The Senior Analyst - Real Estate Finance will leverage prior banking experience to manage loan portfolios, assess credit risk, and support real estate investment activities. This role is ideal for a former credit analyst, commercial real estate lender, or investment banking analyst who is looking to apply their financial and risk expertise within a fast-paced commercial real estate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Credit & Risk Analysis (Banking-Focused)

  • Evaluate real estate creditworthiness by analyzing financial statements, rent rolls, DSCR, and borrower/investor financials.
  • Assess and monitor loan performance; recommend credit actions to mitigate risk and optimize returns.
  • Maintain and improve relationships with banks, insurance lenders, and CMBS providers to support future financing needs.
  • Ensure all underwriting, loan compliance, and financial documentation meet internal and regulatory standards.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct in-depth financial modeling, stress testing, and forecasting to evaluate investment and refinancing scenarios.
  • Prepare and present loan performance reports and credit memos aligned with banking standards.
  • Track and report key metrics across the portfolio such as DSCR, LTV, NOI, IRR, and cash-on-cash returns.
  • Communicate discoveries and recommendations with property management and accounting departments to enhance portfolio performance.

Capital Markets & Debt Financing

  • Structure financing packages for new acquisitions and recapitalizations by working closely with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Prepare investment summaries, offering memoranda, and lender pitch materials.
  • Support refinancing initiatives by preparing financial models and coordinating lender due diligence.
  • Prepare comprehensive investment packages for capital raising efforts and investor presentations, banking meetings, and transaction closings.
  • Attend relevant real estate and commercial lending conferences to explore new capital sources and investment strategies.

Acquisitions & Deal Support

  • Analyze potential acquisition targets through market research, underwriting, and financial feasibility modeling.
  • Assist in the due diligence process for property acquisitions, including legal, financial, and operational reviews.
  • Assist in structuring transactions and negotiating terms with sellers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead presentations with management for lenders, business partners, and potential joint ventures.

Portfolio Strategy & Planning

  • Analyze annual budgets, create financial projections, and propose strategic financial plans.
  • Work closely with accounting and property management teams to validate financial transactions and ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Measure financial risk associated with management's investment decisions and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support lease analysis, rent roll evaluations, and tenant financial assessments.
  • Prepare scenario analyses for capital deployment, interest rate shifts, and refinancing impacts.

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Utilize Yardi and Argus to perform modeling, track portfolio performance, and ensure data integrity.
  • Recommend improvements to financial workflows, credit review processes, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial banking, investment banking, or credit analysis role focused on real estate.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate lending, credit policy, underwriting, and financial structuring.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Argus and Yardi strongly preferred. Ability to learn software quickly.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate financial insights.
  • Experience working with financial institutions, institutional investors, and internal leadership teams.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
