Software Engineer, Healthcare

We’re seeking skilled backend and fullstack software engineers who are passionate about building scalable, reliable systems to support AI applications in beneficial areas like healthcare. As a member of the Applied team, you will develop, maintain, and optimize the infrastructure and tools that ensure the reliability, performance, and compliance of our products.

In this role, you will:

• Design and build scalable backend and fullstack systems to support beneficial AI applications.

• Implement robust data management pipelines, ensuring compliance with external standards.

• Own end-to-end development of features, from specification through deployment and iteration.

Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to integrate safety and reliability features into the AI development lifecycle.

• Debug and optimize systems to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Have 2+ years of experience writing maintainable, high-quality backend or fullstack code.

• Possess strong engineering intuition and can write clean, scalable, and generalizable code.

• Have experience with compliant enterprise product development or data handling.

• Enjoy working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.

• Stay goal-oriented rather than method-oriented and are unafraid of tackling unglamorous but impactful work when needed.

• Can work independently, taking ownership of problems and driving them to completion.

• Are enthusiastic about engaging with ambiguity and contributing to a growing team.

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with health-related or compliance-heavy systems.

• Hands-on knowledge of large-scale distributed systems, data pipelines, or backend architecture.

• A strong product engineering sense, with the ability to take a spec and bring it to life with minimal supervision.

•A track record of contributing to open-source projects or maintaining high-quality external code repositories.
