Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Electrical Services & Contracting
A leading electrical contracting firm is seeking a results-driven COO to partner with the CEO and drive operational excellence across a $100M+ portfolio. We are looking for a strategic integrator to scale systems, optimize project delivery, and mentor a high-performance leadership team.
This role offers the distinct mandate to partner with the CEO to drive execution, strengthen leadership across both field and office environments, and accelerate profitable growth. This is a position for a leader seeking to translate strategy into action, creating a legacy of operational excellence while protecting culture, safety, and the customer experience.
Core Mandates
Strategic Operations: Oversee day-to-day construction, engineering, and service operations, ensuring P&L targets, safety compliance, and quality standards are met.
Scalability & Process: Establish scalable workflows and implement new technologies to boost productivity and support long-term growth.
Financial Leadership: Manage operational forecasting, resource allocation, and annual business planning to maximize profitability.
Talent Development: build a culture of accountability and safety; mentor senior project management teams and drive workforce development.
Candidate Profile
Experience: 15+ years of progressive leadership in electrical contracting or construction management.
Acumen: Expert-level knowledge of P&L management, risk mitigation, and strategic planning.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business required (MBA preferred).
Senior Leadership: Proven experience as a COO, VP of Operations, or Division Head within a field-based services, contracting, or construction-related environment.
Multi-Site Management: Demonstrated success leading multi-branch or multi-region operations with large frontline teams.
Financial Fluency: Strong grasp of operational finance, including job costing, unit economics, and performance dashboards.
Track Record: Documented history of improving execution, accountability, and profitability in a complex environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience building operating cadences (playbooks, SOPs, KPI rhythms) from the ground up.
Background in supporting expansion, turnarounds, or post-acquisition integration.
Ability to diagnose root causes quickly and implement simple, durable systems.
