Senior Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY
Position Title: Senior Accountant
Reports to: Associate Director, Accounting & Reporting
Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will focus on overseeing certain general ledger accounting close processes, ensuring compliance with SEC reporting requirements, researching technical accounting matters, and supporting our financial reporting objectives.
This position is based in our South San Francisco, CA, location, with flexibility to work remote, and will periodically be required to be on-site.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Maintaining and reconciling certain general ledger accounts, including clinical accruals, equity and leases
- Participating in the preparation of quarterly reports (10-Q), annual reports (10-K), including drafting financial statement footnotes, schedules and MD&A
- Supporting technical accounting research, assessing and addressing new accounting pronouncements and unusual transactions with appropriate treatment of technical accounting guidelines and implementation of such policy, including but not limited to stock-based compensation, leases and revenue recognition
- Assisting with administration of the Company’s stock-based equity awards system and ESPP including preparing expense calculations in accordance with ASC 718
- Working with the accounting department to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and quarterly reviews
- Assisting with the coordination and responsibilities of the Company’s internal controls in compliance with our SOX 404 internal control framework
- Assisting in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the financial controls of the Company. Supporting the quarterly reviews and annual audit by providing the required information to external auditors and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.

Qualifications Include:
- Typical experience usually includes a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience. Candidates with public accounting experience or who are a qualified CPA will be considered in lieu of actual experience.
- Solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SEC reporting requirements
- Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, ActiveDisclosure, Shareworks and/or Intelligize a plus
- Motivated self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention-to-detail and a cooperative attitude
- Excellent professional and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exhibits proactive attributes and ability to research ad hoc requests
- Previous experience in Life Sciences or Biopharma a plus
Pay Range: $105,000 - $116,000 annualized
The stated pay range for this position reflects the San Francisco Bay Area job market. Assembly Bio establishes pay ranges based on geographic work locations. Additional factors such as academic credentials and relevant experience will influence the actual salary offered .
