Position Overview:
At Siemens Mobility, the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Professional – Environmental Compliance & Chemical Management plays a critical role in supporting our commitment to safe, sustainable, and compliant operations at our Sacramento, California train manufacturing facility. This position is primarily focused on environmental regulatory compliance, chemical management, and hazardous waste oversight, with a strong emphasis on compliance with California environmental regulations.
Working cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Site Leadership, this role helps ensure regulatory adherence, mitigate environmental risk, and drive continuous improvement in site environmental performance. In addition to its environmental focus, the position supports broader EHS objectives, contributing to a culture of safety, responsibility, and operational excellence that aligns with Siemens Mobility’s values and sustainability goals.
What your day may look like:
Environmental Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Implement and maintain environmental compliance programs aligned with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including CalEPA, DTSC, CUPA, CARB, EPA, and local air and water districts.
- Manage hazardous waste and universal waste, including generator status determination, waste characterization, accumulation, manifests, and disposal coordination.
- Administer chemical management processes, including chemical approvals, inventories, SDS systems, compatibility reviews, and chemical substitution initiatives.
- Prepare and submit required compliance reports such as CERS submissions, Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs), air reports, wastewater documentation, and other regulatory filings.
- Support air quality compliance, including permit applicability evaluations, emissions tracking, recordkeeping, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
- Support industrial wastewater and stormwater compliance, including SPDES requirements, SWPPP implementation, inspections, and corrective action management.
Occupational Health & Safety Support (Secondary Focus)
- Support site safety programs through inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking.
- Participate in job hazard analyses, risk assessments, and design reviews to ensure environmental and safety controls are incorporated into manufacturing processes.
- Support contractor EHS compliance during construction, maintenance, and project activities.
Audits, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct internal EHS and environmental audits and support external regulatory inspections.
- Develop and deliver environmental and chemical safety training for employees and contractors.
- Support Environmental Management Systems (EMS) activities aligned with ISO 14001 principles.
- Track environmental KPIs and metrics to recommend corrective and preventive actions.
What will make you successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or a related technical field.
- 5–8 years of EHS experience with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience with California environmental regulations, including DTSC hazardous waste, CUPA programs, and CERS reporting.
- Hands-on experience managing chemical inventories and hazardous materials programs.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections and agency communications.
- Strong regulatory knowledge and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
- Practical, field-based problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
What will make you stand out:
- Professional certifications such as CHMM, CSP, CIH, or CESCO.
- Experience within rail, heavy manufacturing, transportation, or complex industrial environments.
- Experience with ISO 14001 or integrated EHS management systems.
- Familiarity with EHS data management systems such as CERS, VelocityEHS, or Enablon.
- Residence in California; proximity to the Sacramento area preferred.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The salary range for this position is $89,556 - $105,264. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
