Group Counseling Case Manager - Youth (Full-Time)

Position Summary :
The Group Counseling Case Manager is a full-time position responsible for developing, facilitating, and managing group counseling services for youth aged 11-19 within the framework of Youth for Christ's mission and values. This role involves significant administrative responsibilities related to program management, documentation, and reporting, alongside direct engagement with youth in a group counseling setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills in group facilitation, excellent organizational and administrative abilities, a passion for working with young people, and a deep commitment to the Christian faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Counseling & Facilitation:
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate group counseling curricula and activities addressing relevant issues for youth (e.g., peer relationships, self-esteem, coping skills, mental health awareness).
- Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly group counseling sessions for youth aged 11-19 in various settings (e.g., schools, community centers, YFC ministry sites).
- Create a safe, and supportive environment within the group setting that encourages open communication and personal growth.
- Manage group dynamics effectively, addressing conflict and promoting positive interactions.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to group members as needed, following established protocols.
- Collaborate with other YFC staff, volunteers, and community partners to identify youth who would benefit from group counseling services.
- Integrate Christian principles and teachings into group sessions in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner.
Case Management & Individual Support:
- Conduct individual intake meetings with potential group members and their guardians to assess needs and determine suitability for group counseling.
- Develop individual support plans in collaboration with youth and, when appropriate, their guardians and school administration.
- Provide individual check-ins and support to group members as needed, offering resources and referrals to additional services.
- Maintain regular communication with guardians, regarding youth progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with external agencies, schools, and mental health professionals to provide support to youth and families.
- Advocate for the needs of youth within the program and the wider community.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including intake forms, progress notes, attendance logs, and discharge summaries, in compliance with legal and ethical standards and YFC policies.
- Manage group enrollment, scheduling, and communication with participants and guardians.
- Prepare regular reports on group activities, attendance, progress, and outcomes for internal and external partners.
- Assist with program development, evaluation, and grant reporting as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate with volunteers or interns assisting with group sessions.
- Ensure all program activities adhere to YFC policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Maintain organized program materials and resources.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related human services field required.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Certification in substance abuse or a related area is preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience providing counseling services to youth, preferably in a group setting.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and facilitating group counseling curricula for adolescents.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health issues, and behavioral challenges.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and administrative skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with youth and their guardians.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ethical and professional conduct, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic health records (if applicable).
- A deep and active Christian faith consistent with the mission and values of Youth for Christ.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various ministry sites and community locations within the San Joaquin Valley area.
- Must pass a background check and child safety clearances as required by Youth for Christ policies and local regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a faith-based youth ministry setting.
- Familiarity with local community resources and referral agencies for youth and families in the San Joaquin Valley area.
