Maintenance Worker

Job Description and Duties

Performs complete custodial services. Removes dust, dirt and other debris from the floors. Sweeps, scrubs, mops and waxes floors. Strips old wax and polishes floors and operates buffer and vacuum cleaner. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Cleans counters, desks, tables, file cabinets, bookcases and ledges. Dusts and polishes cabinets, furniture, woodwork and metalwork. Cleans ceilings, walls, window blinds and light fixtures. Assists in moving furniture and equipment, Maintains restroom facilities in a clean, well-stocked condition. Replaces light globes and tubes. Provides touch painting. Replaces air conditioner filters. Maintains storage rooms in a neat and well-organized condition. Orders and maintains inventory of all custodial supplies and equipment. Assists in the cleanliness of the automotive fleet; assists the Automotive Technician. Insures that planters, parking areas and gas station island are maintained in a clean and weed-free condition. Perform Other duties as assigned.

• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.

• The CHP utilizes their own Maintenance Worker certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Maintenance Worker classification to be eligible to take the examination. To obtain certification list eligibility, please view the examination bulletin link below and follow all instructions. In addition to applying for the examination, applicants MUST submit an application to this Job Control to be considered for the position.
