Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Orange, California. This role involves managing diverse accounting tasks across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate will excel in handling payroll, audits, reconciliations, and reporting, while leveraging their expertise in Sage 300 and Excel. Responsibilities: - Prepare and submit union reports with accuracy and timeliness. - Conduct audits to ensure compliance and identify discrepancies. - Process weekly payroll taxes and garnishments efficiently. - Manage quarter-end and year-end payroll forms, including 1099s. - Reconcile bank accounts to maintain accurate financial records. - Assist in month-end closing procedures and reporting. - Generate and distribute miscellaneous checks as needed. - Utilize Sage 300 and Excel (including vlookups) for accounting tasks. - Support billing functions and accounts payable/receivable processes. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable. - Proficiency in billing functions and account reconciliation. - Strong understanding of general accounting practices and principles. - Demonstrated ability to use Sage 300 and advanced Excel functions, including vlookups. - Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to manage multiple entities and meet deadlines effectively. - Previous experience handling payroll taxes and garnishments is preferred. - Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
