JOB SUMMARY : Assist the Supervisor in the Outlet Store, including supervising staff and product sales, controlling store and human resources to meet budget goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Supervise and perform cash register operations, including responsibility for all monies received and daily bank deposits; ensure protection of these assets from internal or external losses.

Oversee product flow into and out of the Outlet, ensuring a constant supply of fresh products, with unsold products going to salvage or disposal.

Manage products to ensure optimal pricing and customer accessibility.

Ensure proper store staffing during hours of operation.

Ensure that store housekeeping, cleanliness, safety, and security are maintained, reporting all needed repairs/problems/hazards immediately.

Supervise staff, including selection, coaching, training (including safety), and discipline according to company policy.

Complete and submit required paperwork to ensure proper administration of established systems. Process payroll for employees in the absence of the Supervisor, maintaining confidentiality in this and all other personnel-related functions and procedures.

Develop a safe work environment by training staff in safe practices, communicating periodic safety information, and performing safety inspections.

Lead staff by example and through positive reinforcement, maintaining a safe, secure, and positive work environment.

Recommend changes in procedure to facilitate positive momentum.

SECONDARY DUTIES

Perform Outlet Sales Associate duties as needed.

Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED High School Diploma or equivalent.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQ'D Valid Class C California Driver License.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED One and one-half years of retail sales experience with a minimum of six months lead experience or equivalent. As is retail experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Familiarity with basic bookkeeping and record-keeping tasks.

Familiarity with sales/merchandising techniques.

Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast's mission and general Company and Retail policies and procedures (this may be learned on the job).

Familiarity with retail safety and security procedures and material handling techniques.

Familiarity with typical computer programs and computer operation.

Loss prevention experience or skills a plus

EQUIPMENT USED: Typical retail and material handling equipment; typical office equipment.

SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate in basic Spanish preferred.

Ability to maintain self-control and deal effectively with the public.

Ability to make decisions quickly and confidently; ability to explain professional decisions or present information pertaining to Outlet policies.

Ability to perform various duties, often changing from one task to another without losing efficiency or composure.

Ability to maintain a strong sales presence, demonstrating a high energy and enthusiastic work ethic that can be reflected in overall Outlet sales, cooperation with others, and employee morale.

Ability to perform all cash/check transactions accurately, including the ability to operate cash register/supervise cash register functions.

Ability to learn and accurately perform opening/closing procedures, cash register operations, bank deposit procedures, and related paperwork for store operations.

Ability to price merchandise at fair market value.

Ability to coordinate eye/hand/foot movement to move around tables, fixtures, and merchandise safely.

Ability to move hands and fingers quickly to operate a cash register and handle merchandise.

Ability to make judgments and decisions and communicate these based on established policies.

Ability to perform both repetitive and varied duties without loss of composure or efficiency.

Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.

JOB SETTING

Work is done in cooperation with sales staff and management. There is constant contact with the public. The job requires the incumbent to deal with a few short deadlines or special events, which may require overtime. The work environment is generally routine with isolated periods of high activity/demands throughout the day.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work pace is steady with constant standing and walking. The job involves moderate to heavy physical work demands requiring regular lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Large or heavier items (51 lbs. or more) are moved using appropriate material handling equipment and/or with assistance from co-workers.

Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform required tasks.
