Neuro ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (28204) – Top destination for North Carolina nursing jobs
• Facility: Comprehensive Stroke Center, Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel RN contract
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 24, 2025
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours (2 days or 2 nights)
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 (may flex to 3:1 during high census)
• Float Requirement: Yes, within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• Scrubs: Navy blue & white
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1700-$1750

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU RN experience (required)
• Prior travel nurse experience in acute care settings (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license (must be valid by start date)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (current and in good standing)
• Strong clinical skills in stroke patient care and neuro critical care nursing
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float to other critical care units as needed

Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to neuro ICU patients, including those with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, carotid stents, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and complex neurological conditions
• Manage and monitor patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring (Camino), LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun equipment
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, administer blood products, and provide continuous IV sedation
• Care for ventilated patients and manage central venous lines
• Implement isolation precautions and utilize PPE according to hospital protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Document all patient care accurately in Epic EHR
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing clinical training modules
• Float to other critical care units as required based on census and skill set
