Job Description and Duties

This positoin is located in Los Angeles County. Under general direction of a Business Taxes Administrator II, the Associate Property Appraiser in the Assessment Practices Survey Division serves as a member of a survey team that reviews the assessment practices and procedures of County Assessors’ offices for compliance with property tax laws and rules. The incumbent focuses on issues involving the taxation of real property. The incumbent also conducts real property review appraisals as part of an assessment sampling program.

Working Conditions

• Partial telework may be available.
• Standard office environment.
• Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.
• Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.

• Must be able to move/transport items weighing up to forty (40) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Field work to appraise properties will require on-site visits of properties located on various terrain.

• Appraisal work may require traveling to field sites and inspection of the interior/exterior of properties.

• Work at various County Assessors' offices located throughout the State of California.

Special Requirements

• Travel required fifty percent (50%) of the time.
• Position requires employee to possess a valid: California Driver’s License.

• Position requires employee to maintain a State Board of Equalization (BOE) Appraiser Certificate including continuing education.

• Computer proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent programs.
  
• Ability to learn and apply property tax laws and rules.
• Travel may be required throughout the state up to fifty percent (50%) of the time by automobile and airplane; travel will typically be Monday throught Firday and span several contiguous weeks.
