Vice President, Chief Actuary (San Francisco)
Included Health is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Vice President, Chief Actuary to join our dynamic finance leadership team. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role is critical to driving our financial performance and supporting current and future business growth as we expand into capitated risk.
Responsibilities :
- Strategic Actuarial Leadership : Lead the actuarial team to deliver insights and drive decision-making at the highest levels of the company. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align actuarial strategies with business objectives. Develop predictive analytics and leverage big data technologies to inform customer behavior, health trends, and financial performance. Evolve technology to automate and improve actuarial processes.
- Team Leadership : Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing actuarial team, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and diversity. Set objectives, ensure alignment with company goals, and promote continuous learning.
- Pricing Strategy : Contribute to pricing models, ensuring alignment with market trends and regulations. Assess product performance and recommend adjustments to pricing, coverage, or benefits.
- Risk Management : Develop models to assess and manage exposure to risk, including underwriting, claims, and health costs. Ensure accuracy of projections and collaborate on performance guarantees.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with standards and regulations. Prepare reports and filings for stakeholders and regulators.
- External Engagement & Relationship Management : Act as a thought leader, representing the actuarial function in external discussions, supporting sales, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Influence : Liaise with leadership, clients, and partners. Present findings and strategic recommendations to various audiences.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; Masters preferred.
- 12+ years in actuarial leadership within healthcare, with expertise in health risk management, product pricing, underwriting, and claims modeling.
- Proficiency in actuarial software, statistical techniques, and data analytics tools.
- Experience with value-based care, risk adjustment, and population health models.
- Deep knowledge of healthcare and insurance regulations and reporting standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts and influence stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Strategic thinker capable of balancing short-term and long-term goals.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity.
Physical / Cognitive Requirements :
- Prompt attendance and the ability to remain seated for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for operating office equipment.
- Occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force may be required.
- Effective interaction with leadership and team members.
The salary range for this full-time position in the United States is $237,170 - $335,000. Compensation will depend on various factors including experience, skills, and location.
