CORRECTIONAL LIEUTENANT
Job Description and Duties
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment will be considered for this position(s).
Under the direction of the Captain (AI), the Correctional Lieutenant will be in charge of the custodial operation and is responsible for maintaining order and discipline in accordance with established procedures throughout the facility; (i.e., housing units, dining halls, work area, exercise yards, etc.). The Correctional Lieutenant will train and evaluate new Correctional Sergeants and Correctional Officers in custodial procedures and practices, assisting them in all areas which will enable them to become more efficient in their duties. The Correctional Lieutenant will supervise all subordinate custodial personnel assigned to the Watch, ensuring the custodial functions are being performed in accordance with institution procedures; will adjudicate in and make disciplinary reports; monitor Incarcerated individual activities and program functions within the living conditions and ensuring that institutional rules and regulations are being enforced.

Working Conditions
High Desert State Prison is located approximately eight miles east of the town of Susanville, or about a 1 hour 30-minute drive northwest of Reno, Nevada.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
