Job Description and Duties
SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) – OCOTILLO WELLS DISTRICT / SALTON SEA STATE RECREATION AREA
“Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program).” This position will work under the supervision of the State Park Interpreter III or designee. The reporting location for this position is 100-225 State Park Rd, Mecca, CA 92254.The Salton Sea State Recreation Area is recruiting enthusiastic individuals to join its team.
The Senior Park Aide (Seasonal) will staff the entrance kiosk at Salton Sea SRA. Duties include working with the public, staffing park entrance stations, checking in campers, cash handling, providing information to visitors, reporting public safety issues, explaining park rules and regulations, cleaning and maintaining the kiosk, accounting for kiosk supplies, preparing fee collection accounting documents, and reporting safety and maintenance issues to park staff. Additional tasks may include assisting with the park visitor center, nature walks, junior ranger programs, and performing minor maintenance duties. This position may act as a lead for other staff, including Park Aides.
This position will require the applicant to; work weekends and holidays. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The purchase and wearing of a State Park uniform will be required. State Park grooming standards must be met.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) Working Conditions
Varies: indoor and outdoor work.
Work outdoors in various types of weather; work in unpleasant conditions (e.g., bad weather).
Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Special Requirements
