Everest Evolution is the Wholesale-Exclusive arm of Everest serving the dynamic and rapidly growing US E&S market. Everest Evolution offers Property and Casualty insurance products across multiple business units, with wholesale-exclusivity for various products.

About the Role :

Everest Evolution, a member of the Everest Group, Ltd. (Everest), is looking for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter Excess Casualty.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to) :

  • Responsibility for the profitable development of the Wholesale Excess Casualty portfolio.
  • Execute strategy with a focus on the management of risk while driving business growth and achieving profit objectives.
  • Maximizing business value through portfolio optimization, operational efficiency, and risk selection.
  • Help creating a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and cooperation.
  • Finding ways to leverage technology within the Underwriting process to improve efficiency.

Qualifications :

  • Accountability for the underwriting of an assigned book of business and accounts within the Excess lines of business.
  • 3+ years of experience in the insurance business, with 3+ years of experience in the Wholesale Excess Casualty space.
  • Support the successful execution of the Wholesale Excess Casualty plan;adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace;effectively preserve and enhance profitability through product development and enhancement; pricing discipline, competitive analysis and the development of business-enhancing performance metrics and controls.
  • Executing underwriting strategy and foster continuous improvement of guidelines and processes.
  • Contribute to the delivery of all key metrics.
  • Business development and execution of yearly business and budget planning.
  • Provide insurance solutions & broader risk management support to clients most complex risks and challenges.
  • Review insurance submissions and seek to provide terms.
  • Properly assess and analyze client's background information.
  • Participate in continuing education courses to remain knowledgeable and competitive in the industry.
  • Use professional techniques and strategies to calculate the risk associated with client risk profile.
  • Designate and prepare insurance proposals based upon informed judgment and market / litigation conditions.
  • Organize external meetings with brokers and clients to build rapport with insureds and brokers and articulate / demonstrate the value and strength of the Everest Insurance organization.
  • Organize internal meetings with specialists (loss control, claims, actuarial) to gain insight into unique circumstances.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and strategies.
  • Ability to multitask and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary proprietary software / tools.
  • Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as required by Wholesale Excess Casualty responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies :

  • Wholesale Excess Casualty expert with extensive Underwriting experience
  • Bachelors college degree with 4 experience in the insurance industry
  • Demonstrated ability to generate profitable new business and proven record of delivering meaningful underwriting profit.
  • Proven people and skills, team player
  • Highly collaborative and able to work effectively with peers.
  • Strong technical background, problem solving analytical skills, and ability to connect data analytics with strategic deliverables to drive underwriting strategy.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment from an Everest office 3-2 model
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, exceptional interpersonal skills, comfortable on phone and in-person meetings, local and overnight travel.
  • Able to provide exceptional customer services at all times.
  • Able to work and contribute as part of a team.
  • Able to adhere to uncompromised, professional and ethical standards.
  • Additional specific experience as required by specific Line Wholesale Excess Casualty

For CA and IL Only : The base salary range for this position is $88,000 - $108,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
