Investment Banker #1508

Keller Executive Search
Los Angeles, CA

Our client, an independent and rapidly expanding boutique investment bank in Los Angeles, is seeking to appoint an Investment Banking Associate to join its growing team. Built by experienced middle-market bankers with strong ties to the Los Angeles deal community, the firm is in an exciting stage of development and is building a high-performing team to support an active and expanding transaction pipeline.

The business is primarily focused on lower middle market sell-side M&A, while also advising on debt capital raises and selected buy-side mandates. Its client base is made up largely of entrepreneur-led businesses across a variety of sectors, including technology, consumer, and business services.

This opportunity offers the chance to join at an early stage and work alongside accomplished bankers who are focused on building the firm with a long-term, quality-driven approach. Our client is looking for a motivated, commercially minded Associate who is eager to develop alongside the platform.

The Role

Our client is hiring an Investment Banking Associate to serve as a key member of the deal team, positioned between the Vice President and Managing Director levels. This is a broad, hands-on role rather than a narrowly focused sector position, offering exposure across multiple industries and transaction types from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review analyst output and help uphold a consistently high standard of accuracy, professionalism, and presentation quality
  • Draft and refine client materials such as pitch books, teasers, CIMs, management presentations, buyer lists, and process communications
  • Support origination activities through pitch development, market mapping, target identification, and outreach efforts
  • Support execution across M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory assignments from initial pitch through closing
  • Manage diligence processes, virtual data rooms, diligence trackers, and coordination across clients, counterparties, legal advisors, and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to broader firm-building initiatives, including recruiting, training, and process improvement efforts
  • Conduct company, industry, buyer, and investor research to help inform transaction positioning and business development
  • Build, maintain, and audit detailed financial models, including operating models, valuation work, LBOs, public comps, accretion/dilution analyses, and precedent transaction analyses

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create polished, client-ready materials
  • 2–6 years of investment banking experience with meaningful exposure to sell-side M&A, capital raising, or strategic advisory work
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record
  • Ability to work with urgency, manage multiple workstreams, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent financial modeling and valuation capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting transactions from pitch phase through closing
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PitchBook, and other standard investment banking tools
  • Series 79 and 63 licenses
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and effective process management skills

Benefits

  • Base Salary: Up to $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Performance Bonus (tied to deal activity and firm performance)
  • Leave: Unlimited PTO
  • Additional: Wellness stipends, paid parental leave, and other benefits
