Regional Maintenance & Fleet Manager Position Summary
Coach Canada is seeking a results-driven Regional Maintenance & Fleet Manager to lead all maintenance operations across Canada. This role provides direct oversight to five Assistant Maintenance Managers, along with broader leadership responsibility for maintenance and support teams across four locations.
This position serves as the leader for Canadian maintenance operations and is accountable for ensuring alignment with company standards, safety requirements, and reporting expectations to U.S. leadership. The successful candidate will drive fleet reliability, reinforce leadership accountability, and ensure all vehicles are maintained in a safe, compliant, and service-ready condition through disciplined execution of maintenance operations. This role also plays a key part in developing the next generation of technicians through structured apprenticeship oversight and mentorship.
- Provide regional leadership across four maintenance facilities, ensuring consistent execution of preventive maintenance, repair quality, and documentation standards
- Lead and support five Assistant Maintenance Managers, with broader oversight of maintenance, wash bay, and support teams across all locations
- Reinforce manager accountability for the oversight of wash bay and maintenance operations, ensuring buses are road-ready and remain in service
- Oversee and support the 310T apprenticeship program, including mentorship, competency development, and progress tracking in alignment with Skilled Trades Ontario requirements
- Remain actively engaged in operations, supporting troubleshooting and stepping in as needed to ensure continuity and performance
- Monitor fleet condition, downtime trends, and repeat failures, proactively addressing performance gaps and root causes
- Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and audits to ensure operational consistency and quality control across all locations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, while promoting a strong safety culture
- Oversee key performance indicators including labor utilization, shop efficiency, parts usage, and vendor costs to support budget performance
- Manage vendor relationships and external repairs, ensuring quality, cost control, and alignment with operational needs
- Partner closely with Operations to align maintenance planning with service demands and scheduling requirements
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, standardize procedures, and enhance productivity and fleet uptime
- Lead people management initiatives including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management, fostering accountability and technical development.
- Drive continuous improvement by standardizing processes, implementing KPIs, and identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, cost control, and fleet uptime.
Regional Maintenance & Fleet Manager Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role within transportation, fleet, or heavy equipment environments.
- In-depth knowledge of MTO regulations and safety compliance requirements for motorcoach operations, including maintenance standards, inspections, and recordkeeping.
- Demonstrated experience in a hands-on maintenance capacity, including active involvement in diagnostics and repair oversight.
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician License (required).
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Experience managing multi-site operations is preferred.
- Proven leadership and team development capability.
- Strong financial acumen related to maintenance budgeting and cost control.
- Commitment to occupational health, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage both technical teams and senior leadership.
- Valid passport and ability to cross the Canada–U.S. border is required.
