Senior Accountant

Black Forest Labs is a cutting-edge startup pioneering generative image and video models. Our team, which invented Stable Diffusion, Stable Video Diffusion, and FLUX.1 , is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to help us scale our accounting function as we go through this rapid phase of growth.

As an integral part of our finance team, your main goal will be to ensure accurate, timely, and scalable accounting operations that support our rapid global growth whilst maintaining robust financial compliance across our current US-German corporate structure and enabling data-driven decision-making.

The Role:

Cross-Border Financial Operations

• Manage consolidated accounting for our US parent company and German subsidiary under US GAAP


• Execute fast and accurate monthly close processes across jurisdictions, including intercompany calculations and eliminations.


• Coordinate with German operations to maintain compliance with local statutory requirements while rolling up to US GAAP reporting


• Support preparation of consolidated financial statements and management reporting packages

Core Accounting & Revenue Operations

• Own accounts payable, receivables, and fixed asset accounting across both entities


• Manage revenue recognition for our AI model licensing and API services under ASC 606


• Process customer invoicing where required and work on increasing automation to ensure seamless, accurate and timely order to cash flows.


• Monitor collections and manage customer payment processes

Operational Finance

• Review and process AP where necessary, leaning into automation (eg Ramp) to ensure fast and accurate processing.


• Assist in coordination of payroll operations with external providers and internal People Operations


• Execute payment runs and cash management activities across multiple entities and bank accounts


• Support month-end accruals and journal entry preparation

Process Enhancement & Automation

• Assist in the design and implement scalable accounting processes to support our international AI business model


• Automate routine finance workflows using modern fintech tools and integrations, working alongside internal engineering teams to optimize this for the ‘finance team of tomorrow’


• Support finance systems optimization and continuous process improvement initiatives


• Assist with financial aspects of fundraising and investor reporting as needed

Must-haves:

• Accounting Experience: 5+ years in accounting with 3+ years at a high-growth tech company, preferably in AI/ML, SaaS, or enterprise software


• Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar ERP systems, plus modern AP/AR tools (Stripe, Ramp, Brex, Bill.com )


• US GAAP Expertise: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) and multi-entity consolidations


• Process-Driven Mindset: Track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing scalable solutions autonomously


• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration


• Precision & Reliability: Known for accuracy in financial reporting and meeting tight deadlines

Nice-to-haves:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or CPA certification


• Public Accounting Experience: Big 4 or mid-tier firm experience with tech clients


• German Operations Knowledge: Familiarity with German GAAP (HGB), VAT, and statutory reporting


• International Accounting: Experience with foreign currency accounting, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions


• AI Industry Knowledge: Understanding of AI/ML business models, usage-based pricing, and enterprise software metrics


• Technical Aptitude: Comfort with APIs, data integrations, and finance automation tools


• Compliance Background: Experience with SOX compliance, audit coordination, and investor reporting


• Remote Work Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively across time zones in a distributed team environment
