Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid) Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000 Base Salary + Comprehensive Benefits

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Assistant Controller to join a premier, multi-state professional services firm headquartered in Los Angeles. This is a high-visibility leadership role designed for a financial professional who excels at bridging the gap between high-level strategy and daily operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will serve as a key architect of the firm’s financial integrity, overseeing core accounting functions and treasury operations. This is an ideal role for a "leader of leaders" who enjoys mentoring management-level staff and driving process modernization in a sophisticated, fast-paced environment

Core Leadership Responsibilities

• Act as the primary lead for daily accounting operations, supervising the Accounting Managers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and departmental efficiency.
• Manage the firm’s liquidity, cash forecasting, and banking relationships to safeguard assets and ensure stability across a national footprint.
• Design and enforce robust internal control systems and accounting policies to mitigate risk and streamline audit readiness.
• Partner with departmental leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and detailed variance analysis to guide organizational decision-making.
• Identify and implement automation and technology initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and reduce manual overhead.

Candidate Profile

• Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a significant supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Industry Background: Prior experience within a professional services environment (e.g., Consulting, AEC, or Accounting) is highly preferred.
• Technical Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a CPA license or advanced degree (MBA/MSA) is a significant advantage.
• Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Enterprise-level ERP systems and advanced MS Excel functions.
• Leadership Style: A "people-first" leader who excels at coaching diverse teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of GAAP and the nuances of multi-state payroll requirements.
