Job Description and Duties

The Secretary of State’s Office, Political Reform Division is recruiting to fill a limited-term, full-time Staff Services Analyst (SSA) position. The department will also consider a Training and Development (T&D) assignment for purposes of recruitment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of professionals who play a critical role in promoting transparency in the campaign finance and lobbying processes!

The Secretary of State’s Office, Political Reform Division, is replacing its California Automated Lobbyist and Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Search System (CAL-ACCESS) and requires multiple limited-term positions to support business needs. On-the-job training will be provided to allow the incumbent to gain an in-depth knowledge of the laws, regulations, and terminology relating to lobbying and campaign registration and disclosure requirements.

Under the general direction of the Campaign Unit Manager, a Staff Services Manager I, this position is responsible for a wide variety of increasingly complex and analytical tasks associated with the processing and review of registration and disclosure documents filed under the campaign and lobbying provisions of the Political Reform Act. As a valuable team member, the incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and processing lobbying registration and reporting documents. Other major functions of this position include training others, writing procedures, analyzing data, and creating and presenting reports. The incumbent will also deliver excellent customer service through phone, email, and in-person appointments.

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an indoor office setting and requires the incumbent to have knowledge of office methods and procedures and have the ability to operate standard office equipment, type, sit, stand, and/or walk. The incumbent will maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance. This position is not eligible for telework .

Please Note : In accordance with Government Code Sections 19080-19083 the position is established for 12 months and may be extended for another 12 months; and may become permanent.
