Mechanical Engineering Technician
Roles & Responsibilities
- Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
- Produce engineering documents, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
- Prepare reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis.
- Complete routine technical tasks and provide technical support to engineers.
- Help scope equipment for use and complete qualifications.
- Assist with general lab functions, including calibration, safety procedures implementation, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Notify manager or team lead of factors that may affect the project.
- Help develop prototype processes and test set-ups.
- Execute designed test protocols and conduct testing.
- Document and communicate test results effectively.
- Support hardware debugging.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lab environment (corporate or school) or technician experience in a regulated environment.
- Experience following written procedures and working collaboratively with a team.
Skills & Certifications
- Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures.
- Effective communication skills within a cross-functional group and with the lab team and extended team members.
- Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
- Proficiency in using personal computers.
- Ability to train lower-level technicians.
- Competence in documenting and communicating test results.
Eligibilities & qualifications
- Minimum education requirement: High school diploma.
- Experience in a lab environment or technician experience in a regulated environment for at least 3 years.
- Ability to follow written procedures and work collaboratively with a team.
