Director of Marketing & Member Engagement
Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Chief Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Service and Community Engagement (GO-Serve), the Director of Marketing and Member Engagement works closely with California Volunteers, GO-Serve Communications & External Affairs and Digital Infrastructure Office to ensure consistent and coherent member experience across California Volunteer programs - College Corps, Climate Action Corps, Youth Jobs Corps, and AmeriCorps California. The Director of Marketing oversees and provides executive leadership and policy guidance with outreach, research, alumni and recruitment, branding and marketing efforts and to ensure strategic goals are achieved and aligned with GO-Serve. The Director of Marketing also oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing efforts, consumer research and programs that advance and support GO-Serve.

Working Conditions
Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects with or without a reasonable accommodation . Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or sanding for brief periods of time. Occasional travel up to 10% may be required (in the Sacramento area).

The incumbent must be detail-oriented and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized, creative, and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced team office environment. Demonstrated ability to act independently and as a member of a team with open-mindedness, flexibility, and tact. Ability to problem-solve and use critical and creative thinking to effectively perform work. Display good interaction skills and the ability to deal professionally, congenially and in a personable manner with the public, other governmental entities, and staff at all levels. Communicate successfully in a diverse community as well as with individuals from varied backgrounds.

- Demonstrated experience in management supervising staff with specialized functions and responsibilities in recruitment, outreach, and/or public engagement.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Experience developing and managing marketing contracts, including strategic planning, project management, and organization.
- Experience in making effective management decisions on a variety of challenges in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- A passion for community service, actively contributing to the betterment of the community through impactful initiatives and collaboration.
