This position is responsible for collecting and documenting facility asset data, evaluating building conditions, assessing remaining service life, and supporting long-term capital planning efforts.
The ideal candidate possesses strong construction management, engineering, architecture, or facilities experience and can identify building systems both visible and concealed within existing structures. This role requires frequent site visits, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the use of mobile technology to collect and maintain facility data.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Assessments & Data Collection- Conduct on-site facility condition assessments at District schools and support facilities.
- Identify, inspect, and document building components, systems, and infrastructure assets.
- Collect and verify facility data using tablets, laptops, smartphones, and other digital data collection tools.
- Record quantities, measurements, locations, and condition information for building systems and components.
- Utilize construction and building systems knowledge to identify infrastructure concealed within walls, ceilings, floors, and other inaccessible areas.
- Evaluate the physical condition, functionality, and performance of building systems and components.
- Assess remaining service life (RSL) of facility assets using established District guidelines and industry best practices.
- Apply Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) methodologies to support capital improvement planning and asset management initiatives.
- Work closely with trade specialists, survey teams, facility personnel, and project stakeholders to gather accurate facility information.
- Coordinate with campus administrators, faculty, and staff during site assessments and surveys.
- Assist with special studies, asset inventories, facility audits, and other District-wide assessment initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and serve as a resource to team members and survey participants as needed.
- Support Facilities Condition Assessment Unit leadership in achieving program objectives.
- May oversee the work of survey staff, field personnel, or assessment teams on assigned projects.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with District assessment standards and procedures.
Requirements
Minimum QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in:
- Construction Management
- Engineering
- Architecture
- Facilities Management
- Building Sciences
- Related Technical Field
Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Candidates without a bachelor's degree must possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least four years that may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Six (6) or more years of full-time professional experience in construction management, facilities assessment, building inspection, engineering, architecture, facilities planning, or related fields.
- Experience working with construction management teams, facility stakeholders, campus administrators, faculty, and staff.
- Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, facility infrastructure, and asset lifecycle management.
- Experience conducting site inspections, facility surveys, condition assessments, or capital planning activities is highly desirable.
- Experience performing Facilities Condition Assessments (FCA).
- Knowledge of building asset management systems and capital planning programs.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), structural, architectural, and building envelope systems.
- Experience using mobile data collection platforms and facility management software.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
