Process Improvement Consultant - Warehouse Operations
Job Summary
The Process Improvement Consultant (PIC) is a member of the Operational Excellence (OPEX) Team that supports the execution and continuous optimization of operational processes across their assigned distribution center. This role serves as a local subject matter expert for process improvement methodologies, driving initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is analytical, results-oriented, and skilled in change management, capable of balancing network standards with local operational needs. This position acts as an internal consultant to site leadership, leveraging data, operational expertise, and continuous improvement tools to foster a culture of excellence and support major business initiatives across the network.
Responsibilities
- Execute and support network-wide process improvement strategies across an assigned portfolio of distribution centers in accordance with OPEX Center of Excellence network strategy.
- Serve as the local subject matter expert for process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Total Quality Management, Agile Manufacturing and Scrum), providing onsite support to their assigned facility.
- Analyze operational data, workflows, and performance metrics to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities in areas such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping and Quality and Inventory Control (QIC) work streams.
- Lead, coach and facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping sessions, and root cause analysis workshops to address complex operational challenges.
- Develop and implement action plans to address process gaps, operational bottlenecks, and identified risks within assigned facility.
- Support the standardization of best practices and drive consistency in process execution.
- Support the implementation of Critical Few initiatives focusing on project details and change management.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, and cost, communicating trends and results to site leadership.
- Leverage Power BI reporting, Excel, and operational analytics to support data-driven decision making and quantify the impact of improvement initiatives.
- Train, coach, and mentor site personnel on continuous improvement tools, methodologies, and principles to build local capabilities.
- Support major projects associated with new technology implementations, business changes, facility expansions, and network optimization initiatives.
- Partner with Operations, Inventory Management, Quality, Safety, and IT teams to support cross-functional objectives.
- Monitor regional process health and prioritize optimization efforts based on strategic impact, compliance, and business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Kaizen Leader certification is highly preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in process improvement, industrial engineering, operations management, supply chain analytics, or related disciplines preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple processes within a large-scale distribution center.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering process improvement projects with measurable results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Experience utilizing Power BI, Excel, and reporting tools to monitor performance and identify opportunities.
- Proficiency in process mapping and analysis tools (e.g., Lucid)
- Deep understanding of continuous improvement methodologies, change management principles, and warehouse operations.
- Ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams within a distribution center.
- Strong project management, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Travel Expectations: 25% to regional distribution centers for swarm project work, training and workshops.
