Supply Planner- Raw Product
Salary Range: $71K - $85k

______________________________________________________________________ GENERAL DISCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Supply Planner for Raw Product is responsible for managing the network inventory and replenishment of raw ingredients for organic tender leaf and organic heart lettuces, based on the weekly production demand requirements. This includes managing inventory levels, procuring the right ingredients, selecting raw components for local and regional operations, developing and maintaining strong & functional relationships with key supplier, work in a lead capacity, with the Supply support members and provide general task related direction and assistance, direct Raw Product field Supply Supervisor to review quality of field supplies in a strategic manner to gain information for future supply predictions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS / DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- manage the selection of appropriate inventory for local and regional operations.
- Process and communicate Purchase and Harvest orders of raw ingredients.
- Create and enter PO in the system of record (BC)
- Communicate the order via phone and email
- Communicate daily with suppliers regarding expectation for each delivery
- Create and enter PO in the system of record (BC)
- Uphold brand raw quality standards in raw selection for incoming ingredients
- Ensure raw material rejection process runs efficiently by providing 24-hour notice to growers of raw material being rejected due to quality issues.
- Ensure delivery standards for raw product is adhered by suppliers to reduce safety and quality risk
- Work with internal and external Harvesting Managers to ensure a balance between optimal harvest time and utilization of product.
- Oversee the selection of ingredient required for each production location
- Salinas movements & regional Transfers (production allocation)
- Process Entries in BC for all regional Transfers
- Process Transfer Orders in the system of record (BC)
- Manage seasonal transitions of raw product to include logistics, inventory management, receiving location, supplier/grower schedules, and timing for west and regional operations
- Manage the weekly harvest plan for efficiency and quality (ATU).
- Together with Supply Planner for Packaging, ensure yard material of RPC and Pallets are available for harvest at all times
- Accurately report passing weights of raw product to each supplier for billing purposes.
- Review discrepancies and determine appropriate fix to ensure accuracy of billing.
- Work in coordination with various verticals to resolve cross-functional horizontal processes affecting time sensitive raw product issues to meet customer demand and quality expectations
- Communicate forecast adjustments of raw product availability to cross-functional teams.
- Process deviation for all supply planning foreseeable issues
- Oversee and troubleshoot raw product transfer issues such as truck utilization, quality of product, and shortage of product.
- Set up and Maintain Season Price for all Supplier vendor card in BC
- On occasion travel to fields to meet with suppliers over raw product concerns.
- Manage the route planning for field quality and supply evaluation for Raw Product Field Supply Administrator
- Literate in English; biliterate in English and Spanish preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of lading, spreadsheets, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and directly across the organization
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, yields, costs, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to quickly solve problems at the field level and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists while optimizing cost, quality and service of the program.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Planning and coordination skills/logistics are necessary to be successful in this role.
- Minimum basic skills in Excel w/formulas are required
- Ability to make independent decisions and judgments based on experience and knowledge in this field is a must.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk on surfaces that range from an office environment to the uneven areas in the fields. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- 40- hour workweek and weekends as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Knowledge of agricultural commodities required for processing of raw product is essential.
- Intermediate skill level working with the Microsoft Suite of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and GMP’s is required.
- Experience working with BC system is highly preferred.
