Director of Construction
Seeking a Director of Construction with home building and land development experience for a direct hire opportunity with our client in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Salary is between $230,000 - $250,000 per year (based on experience)
The Director of Construction oversees all aspects of vertical homebuilding across assigned Core Bay Area communities. This role is responsible for field execution, schedule adherence, trade coordination, and overall jobsite performance from slab release through final closing. The Director also oversees completion of site amenities, including sidewalks, parks, and landscaping. Experience with both onsite and offsite infrastructure is a plus.
Reporting to the EVP of Operations, the Director of Construction leads field teams, monitors production metrics, and drives consistent, predictable construction delivery across multiple communities. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on execution, accountability, and multi-project oversight.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents across multiple active communities, setting clear expectations for schedule, safety, quality, and jobsite discipline
Drive consistent, predictable production delivery from slab release through final closing across all assigned communities
Establish and execute quarterly production goals while maintaining adherence to master schedules and milestone commitments
Monitor cycle times, production velocity, and jobsite performance, identifying risks early and implementing corrective actions
Review and enforce two-week lookaheads, community production plans, and trade sequencing to maintain steady trade flow
Oversee vertical construction execution, ensuring homes are built to approved plans, scopes, and specifications
Maintain site readiness, lot availability, and trade coordination to support uninterrupted production
Resolve field, constructability, and coordination issues quickly to prevent schedule impacts
Oversee completion of site amenities including sidewalks, parks, and landscaping; experience with onsite and offsite infrastructure is a plus
Enforce company quality standards and jobsite safety compliance across all communities
Partner with Warranty and Customer Service to address recurring quality issues and reduce rework
Collaborate with Purchasing to manage trade performance, scope compliance, and accountability
Coordinate with Site Operations, Project Management, Design, and Sales to align lot releases, schedules, and delivery timelines
Provide regular production, schedule, and risk reporting to the EVP of Operations
Participate in executive production meetings and maintain accurate milestone and field status tracking
Qualifications:
8–12+ years of residential homebuilding experience
Proven experience managing multiple active communities simultaneously
Strong understanding of production scheduling and trade sequencing
Demonstrated track record of delivering homes on time and within budget
Hands-on, field-oriented leadership style
Strong communication, problem-solving, and accountability skills
Construction Management degree preferred
