Mountain Valley Express, LLC is a less-than-truckload carrier with locations in California, Arizona, and Neveda.
The Auditing Specialist will be responsible for conducting for reviewing and verifying partner and purchased transportation transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance and integrity. This role plays a critical part in identifying discrepancies, preventing overpayments, and supporting internal controls within the accounts payable process. This position will report to the Sr. Accountant Supervisor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Review and audit partner and purchased transportation invoices and transactions for accuracy, proper coding, authorization, and compliance with company policies and procedures
· Investigate discrepancies in partner and purchased transportation invoices, payment records, resolving issues with internal department and external parties
· Monitor and analyze partner and purchased transportation data to detect duplicate payments, incorrect charges or other financial irregularities
· Ensure timely and accurate processing of partner and purchased transportation invoices and statements in accordance with internal controls
· Assist in month-end closing processes by providing audit support and documentation for partner and purchased transportation spend
· Maintain up-to-date and organized records of audited transactions and documentation
· Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the partner and purchased transportation function
Skills & Attributes
· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP software. Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Proactive and critical thinking i.e., ability to analyze information, solve problems and anticipate needs.
· Strong communication skills and ability to professionally interact with vendors and internal departments.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
· Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Accounts Payable or general accounting experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
Work Environment
· This is an onsite position, located at the posted Terminal
Physical Requirements
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (if applicable).
· Frequent walking throughout the facility and between departments as part of daily operational tasks (if applicable).
· Ability to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.
· Ability to navigate each department and the company’s facilities as needed.
