Software Engineer I (Hybrid Eligible)

You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to support embedded software design, including microcontroller, OS level, and embedded application software development. Your software designs will be integrated into small form factor security devices and network real-time embedded systems. You will be part of a high performing software development team currently developing a new product for SNC.

Must-haves:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience
• Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools
• Practical knowledge of software engineering principles and practices
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
• General understanding of object oriented design
• Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C++, and Python
• Experience with application software and Linux kernel development
• Experience with OpenEmbedded development
• Experience writing and executing software unit tests
• Experience integrating and testing software and/or hardware components
• Minimal fundamental knowledge of network and serial communication protocols, including UDP/TCP, I2C, SPI, and UART
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.

Preferred:

• Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash
• Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build
• Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
• Basic understanding of data structures

• Experience with requirement definition, allocation, and verification
• Experience with generating DoD software product design documentation, such as SRS, SDD, STP, STD, etc.
• Secure coding best practice skills with understanding of various standards, such as MISRA and DO-178B

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $86,470.87 - $118,897.44. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
