Office Assistant (Typing)
Job Description and Duties

Processes all CHP 215, Notice to Appear, and CHP 281, Notice to Correct, CHP 214, Written Warning, CHP 267, Notice of Parking – Registration Violation, CHP 239, Notice to Defendant/Proof of Service, and CHP 411, Notice of Correction and Proof of Service. Processes, duplicates, files and distributes all CHP 202, Driving Under the Influence Arrest – Investigation Report, and CHP 216, Arrest – Investigation Report. Processes all subpoenas received in the Area office by duplicating and distributing to appropriate supervisors and entering into our Clerical tracking spreadsheet. Processes requests for records including requests for CHP 555, Traffic Collision Reports. Completes and maintains CHP 251, Counter Receipt. Processes all Formal/Informal Discovery Requests, Subpoena Dues Tecum, Complex/Simple Public Records Requests. Continuously complete and maintain the CHP 520, Area Public Records Act Request log. Serves as the primary receptionist, answer incoming calls and provide information to the public, departmental employees, and other governmental agencies or direct calls to the appropriate personnel. Processes 180's, Vehicle Report, for stolen, recovered, stored and impounded vehicles, logs information into the computer and sends storage and recovered vehicle notices to registered and legal owners. Types miscellaneous memorandums, forms and other documents as required. Copies any/all correspondence prior to mailing for Area files(s). Logs, tracks, prepares, and processes CHP 735's, Incident Response Reimbursement Statement, for officers involved in the arrest of defendants driving under the influence and send to accounting for processing in a timely manner. Performs other duties, within the scope of the classification, as assigned.You will find additional information about the job in the .
Working Conditions
The Office Assistant works 40 hours per week in an office setting. Work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday-Friday). An assigned workspace is provided.
Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. - The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
