Cost Accounting Manager - Manufacturing Business - Newark, CA

Job Description
Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Cost Accounting Manager will lead cost accounting activities and support operational decision making. This role will have ownership of standard costing, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and close partnership with manufacturing and supply chain leaders. Main duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Lead all cost accounting activities including standard cost development, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers and improve margins
- Manage cost accounting close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Analyze manufacturing variances and provide clear explanations to senior finance and operational leadership
- Maintain bill of materials, routings, and labor standards within the ERP system
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting from a cost and margin perspective
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal control requirements
- Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost visibility, controls, and efficiency
- Lead and develop junior accounting staff as the team grows.
The Successful Applicant
In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of strong relevant experience in cost accounting principles and practices, particularly within the industrial and manufacturing industry
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate financial information effectively
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
