Metrology Tech - Polyworks (San Jose)

TRC seeks a contract portable metrology technician with polyworks for a leading aviation manufacturer with a location in San Jose. Candidate should have experience with metrology, programming in polyworks, and hands on experience with Faro or Hexagon. Knowledge of GD+T. Must be open to working extended hours.

What you’ll do
●​ Program and operate Portable Coordinate Measurement Machines (PCMM) using Polyworks software to create measurement routines
●​ Lead the establishment of an aircraft inspection plan including the programming of PCMMs, CMMs and other inspection tools
●​ Interpret engineering drawings and translate them into PCMM programs and inspection plans
●​ Perform inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with design tolerances and specifications.
●​ Record and maintain accurate inspection data and reports to support statistical process analysis
●​ Regularly inspect and maintain PCMM machines to ensure accuracy and reliability ●​ Ensure the PCMM maintains calibration
●​ Troubleshoot and resolve PCMM-related issues as they arise
●​ Ensure traceability of measurements and maintain compliance with company quality management systems

What you need
●​ High School Diploma or equivalent required
●​ 5+ years’ experience in metrology with programming skills in Polyworks, and hands on experience using with Hexagon or Faro metrology
tools
●​ Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
●​ Experience creating and approving first article inspections with working knowledge of the tools required for inspection
●​ Ability to identify/recognize inspection errors and nonconformances and initiate corrective action
●​ Experience with MES systems and creating inspection plans electronically
●​ Experience working in a manufacturing environment in aerospace or other highly regulated environments
●​ Ability to work within a team environment

Bonus qualifications
●​ Associate degree or technical certification in Quality Assurance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
●​ Experience creating real time dashboards using Sigma
●​ Experience with developing/validating automated inspection equipment in a manufacturing environment
●​ Experience with SAP
