Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives and expand Diamond Mattress market presence across the U.S. This is a remote leadership role ideal for a proven business developer with deep knowledge of the bedding, furniture, or related industry. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and leading the sales process from prospecting to conversion and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with Diamond Mattress growth objectives.
  • Identify, engage, and secure new retail and wholesale accounts nationwide.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key industry stakeholders, including retailers, buying groups, and distributors.
  • Lead contract negotiations, pricing strategy, and onboarding for new accounts.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and operations to ensure alignment with client needs and market trends.
  • Facilitate successful transition of new accounts to local representation.
  • Track sales metrics, market intelligence, and competitive activity to inform decision-making.
  • Complete and maintain a CRM to provide clear status and management information representing progress.
  • Represent Diamond Mattress at key trade shows, conferences, and industry events as required.
  • Coach and mentor junior sales or business development team members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of business development or sales leadership experience, preferably in mattress manufacturing, furniture, or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of securing high-value partnerships and growing revenue in a B2B environment.
  • Strong understanding of the mattress retail landscape, including independent retailers, national chains, and online marketplaces.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM tools (Hubspot) and Smartsheet are a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 75%) to attend client meetings, trade shows, industry events, and team gatherings.
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or similar experience.
