The Role

We’re hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical strategy and execution for one of Overjet’s newest and highest‑priority 0→1 initiatives, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM): a rapidly scaling product bridging the gap between clinicians and insurance organizations. This is a rare greenfield opportunity to architect foundational systems from the ground up and shape how an entirely new category of AI‑powered healthcare infrastructure will work .

We’re looking for an engineer who thrives in ambiguity and is energized by zero‑to‑one building: someone who can take broad, unsolved problems and turn them into scalable systems, intuitive APIs, and production‑ready features. You’ll work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with designers, PMs, and customer‑facing teams to uncover insights, co‑create solutions, and deliver high‑quality software quickly while maintaining a long‑term architectural vision.

This role puts you at the forefront of applied AI in healthcare . The systems you build will directly improve patient outcomes, streamline provider‑insurer collaboration, and modernize an industry that’s overdue for reinvention. You’ll step in as a technical leader across a suite of products, not just one, with broad ownership over an entire vertical and the opportunity to mentor and influence other engineers as the team scales. Along the way, you’ll help establish the engineering foundations for RCM: defining best practices, shaping our system architecture, and raising the bar for engineering excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain impactful software solutions that transform our customers' ability to deliver the best outcomes for patients
  • Write efficient and scalable code, ensuring code quality and adherence to best practices
  • Act as a key technical partner to cross‑functional teams, including Product and Design
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes
  • Regularly scheduled and sometimes ad‑hoc on‑call rotations are part of the core job for every engineer on our team

Qualifications

  • Excellent academic background in Computer Science or other related field
  • Significant relevant experience writing code and delivering products with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Strong fullstack technical skills in Java and React
  • Strong familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure
  • You love mentoring engineers and have a track record of doing so; you thrive when developing great people around you, in addition to great products
  • You have experience in cultivating a strong engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, technical, and mission‑focused environment
