ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Madison, WI
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Specialty: Trauma ICU Registered Nurse
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30); every other weekend rotation; some holidays required
• Contract Duration: 8 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 12/1/2025)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2130-$2190
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 24 beds; daily census of 23

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience (within the last 3 years)
• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact state RN license (must be in hand at submission)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
• Epic charting experience preferred (within last 12 months)
• Basic arrhythmia experience; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to critically ill surgical, medical, and trauma patients in a Level One Trauma Center
• Utilize advanced life support therapies, including ECMO and continuous dialysis
• Respond to hospital emergencies as part of the ICU nursing team
• Float to multiple units as needed to support hospital staffing
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and more
• Manage complex diagnoses such as ARDS, sepsis, GI bleeds, post-op care, liver transplant, vascular surgery, trauma, and multi-system organ failure
• Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, ventilator management, central/PICC line care, chest tube insertion/removal, and more
• Maintain infection prevention standards and follow isolation precautions
