Supervising Management Auditor
Job Description and Duties
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, Office of Audits, the incumbent is responsible for planning and organizing the functions of the Office of Audits. The position will provide direct supervision to Senior Management Auditors and one Program Technician II.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1, 2026 all employees are expected to work in office four days a week.You will find additional information about the job in the .

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Demonstrated ability in leadership, staff management, program oversight, project planning, and resource allocation.
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency in staff and procedures to drive decisions and outcomes. Expertise with the Microsoft Suite and project management software.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct successful recruitments and management multiple recruitments for various positions at multiple locations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate expectations, information, policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with managers and supervisors to develop and improve staff capabilities and personally stay current with auditing standards and practices.
- Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process.
- Demonstrated comprehensive experience in the examination of organizational operations and internal and management controls for purposes of determining compliance with a policy, procedure, regulation, or statute.

Statement of Qualifications
1. Managerial and leadership experience that demonstrates the ability to plan and organize complex situations, including forecasting and building resource needs, allocating roles and responsibilities, establishing phases of implementation and evaluation, and using a range of decision-making models to attain successful implementation.
2. Demonstrated ability to establish productive working relationships with staff, to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
3. Knowledge of the state civil service system, employee/employer relations, employee development, the grievance process, and Equal Employment Opportunity programs.
4. Exemplary and strategic written and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating program accomplishments and challenges.
