Specifically, being a member of the Bureau of Enforcement Program (BOFE) program, which also includes the Labor Employment Task Force (LETF), and /or the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) Unit, you will have an impact on California workers through investigation and enforcement of state laws covering workers’ compensation insurance coverage, child labor, cash pay, unlicensend contractors, Industrial Welfare Commission orders, as well as group claims involving minimum wage and overtime claims.
This is a bilingual (Spanish) position.
Under supervision of and receiving general direction from a Deputy Labor Commissioner III (DLCIII), in the State Labor Commissioner’s Office of BOFE, LETF, and/or PAGA programs, the incumbent is responsible for the investigation and enforcement of the Indusrial Welfare Commissioner orders and laws covering workers’ compenstion insurance coverage, child labor, cash pay, unlicensed contractors, as well as group claims involving minimum wage and overtime. In addition to English, the incumbent must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish to effectively communicate with the Spanish-speaking community in El Centro and vicinities. The incumbent of the program (ie BOFE, LETF, and/or PAGA) may also work in partnership with other governmental entities on the investigation and prosecution of group claims.

Working Conditions
This position is located at:
1550 W. Main St., El Centro, CA 92243
The duties of this position are conducted both in an office and field setting. The incumbent is required to travel for field operations and trainings. The incumbent will have access to a state vehicle, laptop computer, printer, cellular phone, and other equipment. While in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, stairs, high-rise buildings, extreme weather conditions, and fast moving equipment.
Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
- Utilize Spanish language proficiencies to communicate with monolingual parties, witnesses, stakeholders when Spanish is their primary language.
- A willingness to travel and work irregular hours are required.

Knowledge of methods used in compiling and presenting data; and investigation / interviewing techniques and procedures. Mathematical, written, and oral communication skills; Research skills; Critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills; Organizational, time & case management skills. Ability to objectively interpret & apply rules & regulations; ability to gather and analyze data.
