Who are we looking for?
As a Manufacturing Cost Analyst (MCA), you will be responsible for providing KPIs and guidance to the operations teams to optimize financial performance. You will bring your strong analytical expertise and cross-functional collaboration skills to a team focused on working to optimize processes, drive efficiencies and support profitable growth. You will have direct interaction with operations teams and financial staff.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field is required.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of costing methodologies, manufacturing KPIs, MRP system costing and financial transactions, proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrated experience in a cost analyst role is highly desirable.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and provide insights that drive business decisions. Experience in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively. Cross-functional collaboration skills are critical to be successful in this role.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and driving efficiencies.
- Systems Experience: Experience with SAGE X3 ERP a plus.
- Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, with a focus on implementing best practices and standardizing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the MRP team to maintain solutions to optimize inventory management, production scheduling, and overall supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure data integrity by analyzing, validating and reconciling MRP financial postings to the financial system.
- Develop, maintain and review standard product costing information for finished and semi-finished goods. Review BOM/Routing changes and support standardization and process enhancements. Provide estimates of new or proposed product/service costs as needed and recommend cost efficiencies for new products.
- Develop, maintain, and review Operations KPIs with relevant departments. Provide variance analysis, investigate areas of concern and prioritize opportunities for margin improvement. Conduct proactive, in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making, identify areas for profitability improvement, and optimize processes.
- Co-own the development, tracking and improvement of cost of goods sold (COGS) for the company
- Provide direction regarding opportunities for increased efficiencies and cost savings. Implement best practices and standardize procedures while effectively communicating financial performance and bringing insights to the operations teams.
- Budget & Forecast Support: Work closely with procurement, factory and finance teams to provide cost guidance to be used for budgeting and forecast inputs. Proactively communicate significant material changes to allow for pricing &/or operations intervention to protect margins, and assist the factory planning process by providing long term unit forecasts.
- Assist factory operations in managing labor effectively by analyzing and setting standard cost and production build times as well as tracking key KPIs around production and shipping costs.
