SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Merchandising Assistant plays a key role in supporting product development and identifying opportunities for growth and profitability. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product launches and effective merchandising strategies, driving business success by optimizing production, allocation, and display.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilize data and reporting tools to create summaries that highlight opportunities for product optimization and performance improvements.
- Work with merchandising and planning teams to develop growth strategies based on market trends and internal objectives.
- Analyze existing product categories and create new groupings for improved reporting visibility.
- Collaborate with Merchants and Planners to manage new product launches and ensure balanced production flow.
- Regularly attend team meetings to stay informed on project priorities and contribute insights on product strategy.
- Partner with the Visual team to update and refine display guidelines, ensuring that key styles are presented in a way that maximizes their appeal.
- Assist in SKU rationalization processes to streamline product offerings and improve inventory management.
- Analyze product performance across categories and assist in formulating strategies for underperforming or aging inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management or equivalent preferred
- Experience in Merchandising, Product Management, or a related role is preferred.
- Prior retail experience, particularly in categories such as jewelry, fashion, or accessories, is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to leverage reporting tools to identify trends and opportunities.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop and implement growth strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams such as merchandising, planning, and visual teams.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for success in this role.
- A deep understanding of market trends, consumer preferences, and industry best practices is essential.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement changes to improve performance.
