Regional Maintenance Manager Position Summary Fleet Facility Manager
The Fleet Facility Manager provides hands-on leadership and operational oversight for maintenance functions across multiple Coach Canada locations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance of the Company’s fleet while maintaining a strong on-site presence within each garage.
Reporting to the VP of Maintenance and the Regional Vice-President, the Regional Maintenance Manager oversees day-to-day fleet maintenance operations, supports complex diagnostics and repair escalations, and ensures consistency in preventive maintenance programs, repair standards, and documentation practices. The role requires active involvement in shop operations, direct technical oversight, and regular engagement with maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians.
This position combines operational leadership with practical, field-based execution. The Regional Maintenance Manager will be visible in the shops, routinely reviewing work quality, mentoring technical staff, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and reinforcing safety and regulatory compliance standards. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance fleet reliability, maximize uptime, and promote a culture of accountability and safety across all assigned locations.
Regional Maintenance Manager Key Responsibilities Fleet Facility Manager
Operational & Technical Leadership
Provide active, hands-on leadership within maintenance facilities across all assigned locations.
Support troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic issues when escalation is required.
Conduct regular on-site visits to ensure preventive maintenance schedules, repair quality, and documentation standards are consistently applied.
Monitor fleet condition, downtime trends, repeat failures, and root causes to proactively address performance gaps.
Assist with inspections, audits, and quality control reviews of completed repairs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to licensed technicians and apprentices.
Compliance & Safety Fleet Facility Manager
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable federal and provincial regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, hazard reporting encouragement, and proactive risk mitigation.
Verify that tooling, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and calibration schedules meet compliance standards.
Financial & Resource Management
Support preparation and management of regional maintenance budgets.
Monitor shop efficiency, labor utilization, parts consumption, and vendor repair costs.
Assist with procurement planning, parts inventory controls, and fleet lifecycle planning.
Ensure materials, special tools, and diagnostic equipment are available to support fleet reliability.
Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Maintain relationships with approved vendors and external repair facilities.
Review quotations and repair scopes for off-site work.
Collaborate with Operations and Dispatch to align maintenance planning with service demands.
People Leadership
Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance management of maintenance staff.
Provide coaching, technical mentorship, and accountability to supervisors and technicians.
Address performance concerns in alignment with company policy and applicable collective agreements.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all garages.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve shop productivity.
Develop and track KPIs related to uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, safety, and cost control.
Standardize procedures across locations to ensure operational consistency.
Regional Maintenance Manager Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role within transportation, fleet, or heavy equipment environments.
Demonstrated experience in a hands-on maintenance capacity, including active involvement in diagnostics and repair oversight.
310T Truck and Coach Technician License (required).
Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
Experience managing multi-site operations is preferred.
Proven leadership and team development capability.
Strong financial acumen related to maintenance budgeting and cost control.
Commitment to occupational health, safety, and continuous improvement.
