Synaptics is looking for a Wireless System Engineer who will be responsible for development and test of WLAN modem. The job involves design, documentation and simulation of wireless algorithms under various system constraints and wireless channels. The role also involves scripting in Python and TCL for testing the modem performance. This position reports to the Director of Systems engineering in Bangalore.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $94,000- $148,500 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or benefits.

Job Duties

• Understand and implement PHY layer algorithms for WiFi transceiver
• Run simulations and compile data and show performance gaps
• Debug and root-cause the modem-related issues in the lab
• Work on the silicon bring up tasks and root cause and solve systems/PHY/RF issues
• Interact with SW/MAC engineers to ensure the throughput requirements are met

Competencies

• Core competencies the successful candidate will possess
• Strong background in Signal Processing algorithms and Digital Communication
• Ability to code in C/C++/Python/TCL and MATLAB
• Work on Chip bring-up, performance tuning and optimization of calibration algorithms
• Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
• Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
• Able to solve routine problems through practical use of technology
• Good analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work within a diverse team

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in any modem design like LTE/WiFI/BT
• At least bachelors in Communication Engineering or Signal processing
