Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II of the Equity and Community Partnership Section of the Child Care and Development Division (CCDD), the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) independently and collaboratively manages and performs tasks that support the construction and renovation of Child Care and Development (CCD) and Early Learning and Care (ELC) facilities, i.e., centers and homes in vulnerable communities and meeting the Facilities/Infrastructure grant requirements for improving California's ELC system.

The SOQ must be no more than two pages in length, using Arial 12-point font. Include each numbered question, with your responses written directly below it.

1. Describe your knowledge and experience in managing and supporting grant programs.
2. Discuss your experience using collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc. to manage workflows and to communicate with team members and/or stakeholders.
3. Please describe your experience presenting and/or briefing to upper management and stakeholders. Include any experience you have coordinating and facilitating meetings with diverse groups of people.
4. The Staff Services Manager I Specialist position does not supervise staff. How do you build trust and credibility with others when you’re not their direct supervisor?

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
