Compensation

Burn ICU RN Job Details

• Location: University Hospital, Madison, WI 53792
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN)
• Unit: Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30), including weekends and holidays
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Orientation: 1 week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin RN license or compact nursing license (required at submission)
• BLS & ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience (within the last 3 years)
• Proficiency in basic arrhythmia and telemetry; must pass telemetry exam before start
• EPIC EMR charting experience within the past 12 months preferred
• Previous travel nurse experience required
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from Madison, WI
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Burn ICU RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to burn and medical/surgical ICU patients of all ages (neonates to geriatrics)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans
• Float to other critical care units as needed
• Utilize advanced clinical skills: ventilator management, blood product administration, central line care, cardiac drip titration
• Interpret telemetry and arrhythmias; complete required competency exams
• Participate in trauma and burn patient care (no burn wound care required for travelers)
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records system
